about

£10 for cassette (with digi)
£8 for book of poems (with digi)
£7 digi only
£15 for all 3 (just message me to sort this!!!)

The first release on Sonic Poetics, a new label/publisher. Poetry by Simon Pomery, sound by Blood Music. Poems about song lyrics and sounds + music about poetry x the sonic = s.p.

Popular Songs hears music and poetry as the primary method of human communication. While the project was begun in 2019, a big influence from 2020 onwards has been 'The Order of Sounds: A Sonorous Archipelego' by Francois J. Bonnet, specifically his notion of 'desiring-listening': "Desiring-listening is the listening that perceives in the object that it targets a certain promise. This promise is unspeakable because it augurs both the realization of the object and the accomplishment of the goal, the fulfilment of listening." Sonic poetics begins at the moment of the unspeakable.

Popular Songs links with old friends and looks on and outward these are the days my friends into new collaborations, performances, solo and collective actions, the first of which will be held at London’s Cafe Oto, where this album and book will be sold. The next release will be someone else. “Praise be the ear, thanks for listening”.
